Moissac is a four-door sideboard consisting of elements made using the window technique and joined by a hidden core. Each section is manually finished on all sides using a plane. The entire manufacturing and finishing process is carried out manually in our workshop. The wood used for this item is linden, typical of the European climate zone and used in traditional Latin sculpture. With a faint grain, linden is distinguished by a soft but extremely “bonded” fibre: it, therefore, combines a certain lightness with great mechanical toughness. Its pale colour is highly valued and over time takes on a delicate pink hue. The small window is part of a whole, a structure made of four pieces of wood which enclose a piece of glass. These sections, joined together by a hidden core, help to create a constant structure which is meaningful in architectural terms. The small glass opening allows us to imagine the inside of the sideboard, suggesting the presence of a comfortable and inviting, yet protected, space, almost a living thing.
Customised and made with Italian walnut, European cherry, Slavonian oak, Maple.
