What is waterproof clay plaster?
Waterproof clay plaster is a natural plaster finish specifically formulated for horizontal and vertical surfaces exposed to moisture, such as wet rooms, shower walls, splash zones, and other damp‑prone areas.
How does it differ from standard clay plaster?
Unlike standard clay plaster, which absorbs and releases moisture but is not intended for constant water exposure, waterproof clay plaster uses enhanced moisture‑resistant binders and seals to allow direct water contact while maintaining the breathable, natural aesthetic.
Can it be used in bathrooms, showers, and wet rooms?
Yes. When correctly applied and sealed, waterproof clay plaster is suitable for bathrooms, showers, wet walls and other humid areas, provided the substrate is prepared properly and the correct finishing system is used.
What substrates are required for installing waterproof clay plaster?
A stable, rigid, clean, and properly prepared substrate is essential. Common appropriate bases include cement‑backer boards, water‑resistant renders, or pre‑sealed concrete. Any substrate must be free of movement, dust, and loose coatings to ensure the plaster bonds and performs correctly.
What colours are available?
Our wall clay plaster is available in 18 standard colours, each derived directly from the natural tones of the clays themselves with no added pigments. On request we can do custom colours as well.
Is the waterproof clay plaster environmentally friendly?
Yes. It retains the benefits of natural clay plaster, low‑VOC, breathable, and composed of clay and mineral binders, but enhanced with moisture‑resistant features without relying heavily on synthetic resin systems.
Where can wall clay plaster be used?
Wall clay plaster is suitable for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. It performs beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, offices, retail environments, restaurants, hotels, and wellness studios.
Can I see samples before ordering?
