Bioresin Sculpture for Bureau de Change

Through this sculpture a façade of five thousand bricks becomes a single cast body. It is fabricated in bioresin from a bespoke two-part mould. One carries the three-dimensional surface, a swelling, twisting relief. The other holds the gradient of colour. Form and colour set together in a single pour, the sculpture shifting in depth, translucency and tone, as the light changes and as the viewer moves around the piece. There are no joints and no units, just one continuous body. Coalescence is based on the façade of The Interlock, Bureau de Change's building in Fitzrovia. Its five thousand bespoke bricks, laid in forty-four different shapes, appear to torque and swell across the elevation. The sculpture takes that movement and holds it as a freestanding object.
